Manager and Investigator of the Year Awards

Each year, the California State Coroners' Association presents an award for the Manger of the Year and the Investigator of the Year. The nominations for these awards come from the 58 County Departments. As such, we are requesting that you, or someone on your staff, submit one name for each of the awards. We realize that the Association has large, medium and small agencies and 'Coroner Division' has different meanings with individual departments.

Manager of the Year - Those employees who manage coroner personnel and oversees the coroner division of the agency.

Investigator of the Year - Those employees who investigate deaths within your agency, identifying the deceased, contacting the next of kin and working with your pathologist to determine cause and manner of death.

Nominations will be reviewed by the designated committee and selections will be made based on the information provided below. This information could include the longevity of the employee, coupled with the amount of cases they have investigated or supervised, the complexity of the investigations, response from family members, other departments of the public's appreciation of the employee's work and dedication, etc. This could also be compared to the selection process you use in choosing your 'Officer of the Year' Award.
